this month my husband and i celebrated our 1st anniversary. i must say that i never could have imagined a more perfect first year of marriage. we had so much fun and God taught us so many things about ourselves, each other, but most importantly about how much we need Him in our marriage.

 i have been so incredibly blessed!

 i also had NO idea that a year could pass so quickly.

 it seems like i was just planning the wedding.

i love traditions (old and new), so i really wanted to keep the tradition of saving the top layer of the wedding cake for our first anniversary.

our wedding cake was SO delicious!

it was a keylime-coconut cake.

and from the looks of things, i was not the only one that thought that it was AMAZING! 

i was so extremely lucky to know an incredible cake baker quite well

 {my very talented mother}.

she experimented for weeks to come up with a recipe that we all loved. 

not only did she make our wedding cake during the crazy wedding week,

but she told me that instead of saving our top layer of the cake and pretending to enjoy eating frost-bitten cake on our anniversary in the name of tradition, that she would just make us a fresh cake for our celebration. 

so this weekend we got to enjoy this cute little anniversary cake!

i do realize that it has been months since i last posted. not that i haven't thought about it, and not that i haven't been reminded numerous times to do so, but because i just never think about it when i do have the time... so, seeing as how i am currently enjoying my second consecutive snow day (which i might add, is legitimate unlike most south carolina snow days), i decided to post one of my most recent accomplishments... fingers crossed that topher doesn't decide to look at this, since he isn't allowed to see this project till april 2nd.

i started with a pair of "naked" peg dolls:

 i ordered these on etsy from my friend michelle's shop- "goosegreaseundone". i think that the set was something like $4.

after hours... actually, several days worth of hours trying to duplicate topher's suit, my dress, and the bouquet and boutonnier... here is the result (which i have to admit i am pretty proud of).

 can't wait to see these two on top of our cake! only 81 more days!!!

I Really Love My...

This spring I spent hours on etsy.com looking for the perfect 'tiny tag' necklace that i had imagined one night as I was trying to fall asleep. I am horrible about getting something in my head that I have never actually seen, and then getting terribly frustrated as i search for it because I can never find exactly what my brain pictured. I think that is part of why I like to create so much, because I can at least make at attempt to reproduce what I envision in my crazy little head. After days and hours of browsing, I finally came across the etsy shop of StephieMcDesigns and I fell in love with one of her necklaces! I wear it almost every day and actually hope to get another one soon.
